Don't discount this place based on the lack of crowd or the appearance, outside or inside. Come in for the service and the food. On this visit to Scranton for work, we followed a tip to eat some of the best Italian Scranton has to offer and we were so glad we did! Our server, Deanna, was great and provided us a roadmap to the best choices on the menu. Among the five of us we shared red pizza for an appetizer - some of the best pizza ever, white risotto and red risotto, chicken parm, pasta with meat sauce and another chicken dish (with mushrooms, yuck). Everyone raved about their food, but my choice of the white risotto with sausage was hands down the favorite of the table (with servings as large as the ones we had, there was plenty to share). For dessert we had chocolate chip cannelloni and tiramisu and I heard someone say this was the best tiramisu they had ever eaten. Between the white risotto and the tiramisu, I would highly recommend Cafe Rinaldi, just try not to get caught up in the 1960s appearance of the tables and booths...

Very nice Italian in the wilds of Pennsylvania....had the white risotto with sausage, and tiramisu for dessert. Risotto was flavorful (hot sausage, not sweet) with a nice creamy sauce, not dried out or overcooked. Tiramisu was on par with the best I've had. One "warning": huge portions! The risotto, which included salad and bread, was probably enough to feed two persons, with leftovers. Likewise the dessert. Fortunately, the destination hotel has a fridge...

Had a fantastic dinner with 16 co-workers on a Tuesday night. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was outstanding. Can't wait to return on my own and give it another go!

Traditional Italian and "Old forge" style food. You've seen Italian restaurants like this in the movies(Like goodfellas) and the food made your mouth water..The food is even better in person than it looks on the big screen. This is the kind of food we have all learned to expect from Northeast PA's own "Little Italy"-Old Forge, PA.

Large portions and good service. The atmosphere made me feel like I was in Goodfellas (not a bad thing). In an area known for it's Italian restaurants, Cafe Rinaldi is my favorite.

If your mind can't grasp that there can be other kinds of pizza besides New York Style, then don't come to Old Forge. Old Forge Pizza is a style of pizza all its own. It is rectanglar, although it isn't sicilian. The crust is very crispy and the cheese is shredded American. It's a very good pizza. If the marinara sauce wasn't so plain, I'd give this place 5 stars. It tastes like they buy it in large cans instead of make it in the kitchen. Also the parking lot can be a hassle as it is too small for the building. And you will definitely want to call ahead if your party is 3 or more or on weekends.

You're treated like family when you go to Renaldi's ... Family owned and operated. A must try if you're in the area. REALLY AMAZING... Please don't pass it up. You will not be disappointed. Tonight's menu included "the WORKS" appetizer risotto (less broccoli) and clams in butter and garlic sauce. Someone please catch me -- because I've fallen in . Joey the bartender was amazing. Aunt Julie ( I think that was her first name) was a hoot!!! Will definitely be back. Check it out for yourself and write a review.

You can never go wrong coming here. We order takeout and dine in once or twice a month at least. The risotto is fantastic. I prefer white with spinach or broccoli. The eggplant Parmesan is usually what my boyfriend orders. It's always fabulous. We also love the "old forge style" pizza here (If you're not a local and aren't familiar with the term-- it's worth a try). My one star deduction is based on two things: 1.) the decor/ambience needs major updating. 2.) when we order takeout in large groups, it's not uncommon for us to return home missing an app or entree. It's a long drive back to pick up forgotten items. I must say though, that the staff will usually throw in a dessert or extra of something to compensate so it softens the blow and shows they care! We will be back soon.

Great white risotto! Best I've had anywhere! I get mine with shrimp and broccoli. You can feed 3 people with the full dinner, but they also have an appetizer size. I like the leftovers. Also has a great drink menu, especially martins! My cousin always gets the spaghetti with meatballs and loves it there too. She's Italian and makes her own homemade sauce so this is a compliment, lol. Best to get there early or weekdays though. I had chicken gumbo soup also but It's one thing I got there I didn't like.

Plenty of Old forge family Italian dining options nearby but cafe Rinaldi is my personal fav. Atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. Service is laid back but attentive. Nice wine selection and cocktails. Food is always tasty, fresh and there's plenty of it. Some of go tos are Antipasto salad with homemade house dressing, Rissotto 20 diff ways , chicken Marsala and linguine with calm sauce. Tiramisu and rice pudding for dessert. Prices are fair for what younger. Always a pleasant and great experience. mangia!

Great surprise place ! While parking the car my wife was interviewing the patrons coming out and they gave rave reviews. The bar reminds me of the '70s (specifically when Jimmy beats Billy Batts in Goodfellas ) with Sinatra piped in over head. The waitress was kind and patient as we told her this was our first time at the restaurant. She said since this is the first time "one of you must get the risotto !" I did and was great just as the parking lot patrons stated. Wife had a simple ziti with house meat sauce and was fantastic, as was was the Raspberry lemon Martini! Parking lot is tight and the place isn't pretty from the outside but it definitely is where the locals eat! Definitely give it a try if you want a nice simple old school Italian meal.

I always heard glowing reviews about Cafe Rinaldi. One day a group of friends and I decided to try this place out for dinner. As for parking, they have a nice size parking lot. Visually the place isn't gorgeous from the outside but inside we were welcomed with a very comfortable and beautiful atmosphere. Despite a full house, we were seated immediately in a comfy U booth in the back- where a fresh variety of Italian bread and breadsticks were waiting for us. This is a great touch especially since they refilled the basket until our meal came. Our waitress, Deanna, was absolutely hilarious and very customer oriented. She is extremely knowledgable about the menu and the food. I ordered the shrimp and broccoli risotto. Hands down best risotto I ever had! The massive portion size was exceptional! I ate so much and had leftovers. We even tried their tiramisu afterwards- delicious! The waitress refilled our coffees steadily and kept our water glasses full throughout our meal. I highly recommend trying this restaurant out. The highlight of the night was our waitress! We will definitely be a regular customer.

I used to come here all the time when I still lived in PA. Now I dream of their white risotto and Chicken Marsala. Their food is just unbeatable! Rinaldi is, by far, the best Italian I've ever had.

Went here for a business dinner. The interior atmosphere is a bit old and worn. However the food was excellent. I ordered the chicken risotto in white sauce they offered to add spinach or mushrooms to the dish for me. Portions are massive 1 risotto dinner is enough to feed 2 or 3 people. My associate said that the clam sauce was some of the freshest he's had in a while. Service was really good and attentive.

Excellent Service! Waitress was extremely friendly, bus boy was always around clearing off table, drinks were flowing....very very good service! Food was excellent! Great variety of Italian and other food. The linguini carbonara was delicious! I also heard the white risotto and veal parm was excellent! Price was very reasonable!

I can't really say anything that AJ L. didn't already say in his review. Deanna is an exceptional server. We ordered a pitcher of Moretti and it rang up at such a high price that she was kind enough to notify us - we promptly changed our selection. Cafe Rinaldi is known for its risotto, and for good reason. I typically order the white risotto with either broccoli or spinach. Prices range from $10-15,50, depending on what you order, and this is a real bargain - I always get three meals out of one serving. The vodka sauce & fresh basil pizza is really wonderful, but isn't always available - I was told to make sure Pat's working. For salads, the creamy balsamic dressing is excellent. Pitcher of beer, bread, six slices of pizza, one soup, one salad, two enormous bowls of risotto, and some entertainment thrown in... $44.

We always meet here for girls night out. The lemondrop martini was great. But what we look forward to is the risotto. We always order the white risotto. We special order it to come with sausage, mushrooms and red peppers (a tip from someone sitting at the bar). We usually are only able to eat a third of it. The meal comes with soup or salad and bread for the table,

Great food and big portions. Risotto is great and I also love their Veal Parm and Veal Marsala. Their fettuccine alfredo is some of the best I've ever had. I'm not a fan of Old Forge pizza in general And Rinaldis is no exception- sorry I'm from Brooklyn. But stick to the traditional Italian fare and you won't go wrong ;)

Good food. Good service. Nice, relaxed atmosphere. Huge portions. Both my wife and I had enough food leftover for another complete meal the next day. Only complaints were the boring beer options and the bruschetta appetizer wasn't really bruschetta. It was basically garlic bread with a piece of tomato and cheese on it. All in all will definitely go back. The best of the Old Forge restaurants by a mile.

Traditional Italian food that is at $10 to $15 a plate. I have never had a bad meal here and is one of my favorite place to eat. Chicken calabrese and white risotto w/ broccoli are some of our favorites. At this posting there are 13 other reviews and one that gave a 2 star rating from Texas that couldn't be more wrong. Sounds like someone who eats way to much Mexican food , Blah risotto and soggy eggplant that is laughable.

Delicious Italian restaurant. You should know it's a good idea to get reservations in advance, as we had to wait about 25 minutes, nbd. There was excellent bar service. There's a Italian beer on tap, Moretti's, which is decent. Once we were seated the meal began and it was excellent. Neither myself or my fiancé had ever heard of red risotto so we ordered that appetizer and it was monstrous. It was probably at least six ladles worth of deliciousness. Very tomatoey and well seasoned. My fiancé had a salad with a delicious creamy balsamic vinaigrette dressing followed by gnocchi and vodka sauce which was delicious. I had the pasta e fagioli followed by veal marsala with mushrooms. Both were very well prepared. The soup was well seasoned, the veal was cooked well with a sweet and salty sauce just like it should be. At the gnocchi were pillowy at though I did feel that the vodka sauce had been creamed a little too much. Altogether I was very impressed and I look forward to exploring the Italian restaurants in Oldforge as I have been pleasantly surprised thus far! I would give this place five stars, but I've eaten at Babbo in Manhattan and I'm a bit spoiled now.

Good Pasta Fagioli. Dark, relaxed, modern atmosphere. Very large bar in the main room--Moretti on tap a big plus.

Not a fan. Risotto was blah and the eggplant parm was soggy.

If you want real homestyle Italian food, go to Cafe Rinaldi. The menu is basic, but very good. As with any place on Old Forge, they serve good pizza. The white pizza at Cafe Rinaldi is exceptional. Cafe Rinaldi can get really packed, and the service can be unreliable, but its worth the trip.

We're not talking upscale food, but we are talking down home Italian cooking. A few decent beers on tap, including Moretti, a nice Manhattan from an older barkeep, a surly old hostess, when asked, "how many" and we replied, "three", she replied, "OH, GOD", and you have the makings of a relaxing meal. The meals come with a soup or salad, and of course bread. The salad was okay, but the special mozzarella salad was HUGE and very tasty. The soup was from a selection of three and I selected the pasta fagioli. Fantastic. Maybe the best I have ever had. I could have eaten the whole pot. DeAnna, the waiteress, was very nice and friendly, discovered that I was a veggie person, and filled my soup bowl with a load of beans. My pasta was the gnocchi with marinara. Loved the 'nocchi, traditional stomach bombers, but the marinara was just okay. Three of us split the homemade cannoli, another huge portion. I'm not the biggest cannoli fan, but this was pretty damn tasty. There are three other Italian places in Old Forge which I didn't try, but this was pegged for a return trip (yeah, like I am going to Old Forge again).

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
